Annual Conference with Doctoral Masterclasses 2020 - Cancelled

Monday 30 - Wednesday 1 April 2020 University of Southampton, England

Highfield Campus, University of Southampton, United Kingdom

Tuesday 31 March–Wednesday 1 April 2020 with Doctoral Masterclasses Monday 30 March 2020

STATEMENT REGARDING COVID-19

We have just been informed by the University of Southampton that they have taken the decision to cancel all conference activity scheduled to take place on any of their Southampton and Winchester campuses during the forthcoming Easter vacation. The decision has obviously not been taken lightly. In accordance with Governments' advice, the University must take all necessary action to reduce the opportunities for infection to take place. In this regard, travel and gatherings of high numbers of delegates presents a very real increased risk.

We support their decision, in the light of announcements from the Government on Thursday 12 March 2020. Therefore, it is with regret that we announce the cancellation of the BAFA 2020 Annual Conference and Doctoral Masterclasses, due to take place on 30 March-1 April 2020

The BAFA Executives have taken the decision to refund all Annual Conference and Doctoral Masterclass fee payments to delegates: there is no need to contact Tracy or any other executive officer, as the payments will be made. Please be patient as we organise this. We regret that we are unable to refund travel or accommodation expenses incurred, which you will need to discuss with the provider, your institution or insurers.

We hope to run alternative event(s) later in 2020, subject to Government advice. Therefore, everyone with a paper accepted for the Main Conference or Doctoral Masterclasses will be notified of the changes and given an opportunity to present as appropriate.

We would like to put on record the contributions of the BAFA Scientific Committee Members, Special Interest Groups Executive Committee Members, the Doctoral Masterclasses Team, the BAFA Administrator Tracy Shorrock and the Organising Committee & Staff at the University of Southampton Business School. We also thank the various sponsors and exhibitors who were planning to attend as well as our keynote and guest speakers. The Annual Conference and Doctoral Masterclasses is a great event for BAFA, and we will do our best to keep the community together.

We look forward to seeing everyone again in the near future and thank you again for your understanding and patience.
