We are pleased to inform you that the 2022 BAFA Annual Conference and Doctoral Masterclasses will be held on an in-person basis at the University of Nottingham's Jubilee Campus. The Doctoral Masterclasses will be held on Monday 11 April 2022 followed by the Annual Conference on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 April 2022. Arrangements will also be made to facilitate online/remote attendance by delegates.

This year we will have two types of registration fees in-person and online attendance:

  • Full In-person Ticket: £250
  • Full Online Ticket: £170
  • Discounted In-person Ticket: £150  
  • Discounted Online Ticket: £100

Both tickets include all conference sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. For PhD students, the ticket also includes the doctoral masterclasses on Monday.

Buying a ticket registers you for this event. Tickets to BAFA conferences are only available to members. To purchase a ticket, log in to your account on the BAFA Membership Portal (https://members.bafa.ac.uk/) and click the 'Purchase Tickets' button. Select the appropriate ticket for the event you want to attend, and follow instructions. If you are not already a member of BAFA, please sign up for membership at https://members.bafa.ac.uk/sig.

NOTE:

  • No late payments will be considered in 2022.

Annual Dinner

This year the annual dinner will take place on Tuesday evening at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham. Please contact admin@bafa.ac.uk to enquire about availability if you need to bring more than one guest. Guests must be over 18. 

BAFA Group Events

The Accounting History SIG is running a workshop on Monday 11 April prior to the main conference. Registration for this event is separate to the annual conference. Full details can be found here.

Accommodation and Travel

For information on travelling to Nottingham by air, train, and coach, visit the Nottingham University website's travel section. If you intend to drive and park at the university you will need to print and fill in their Parking Voucher.

We invite submissions of full papers on any topic from academics, final-year PhD students, and practitioners in the disciplines of accounting and finance. 

Papers will be reviewed by subject specialists drawn from our special interest groups and our partner learned societies (Management Control Association and Tax Research Network)

CALL FOR PAPERS FOR THE DOCTORAL MASTERCLASSES: CLOSED

Our doctoral masterclasses will offer support and opportunities for feedback and participation

IMPORTANT: PhD students will be able to present in either the main conference or the doctoral masterclasses, not both. Please read the instructions below carefully.


Choose only ONE of the following options


OPTION 1

Online Submission Opens: 27 September 2021
Closes: 31 December 2021

Final-year PhD students and those who have completed their PhD within the last five years have the opportunity to submit FULL papers to the Early Career Parallel sessions held throughout Monday and Tuesday. They will get feedback from designated persons in the conference who will attend their presentation and offer feedback following the session, as well as receiving feedback in the session from the audience. 

Papers that are not accepted for presentation in one of the sessions on 12-13 April 2022 will be automatically be given a place in the doctoral masterclasses on 11 April 2022.

Submit your paper to 'Annual Conference 2022' via the new Paper Submissions Platform—tick the ECR checkbox when filling out the submission form.

You do not need to be a member to register on the platform or make a submission. You will be able to submit your paper immediately upon registering.


OPTION 2

Online Submission Opens: 27 September 2021    
Closes: 31 December 2021

All doctoral students are invited to submit an ABSTRACT for the doctoral masterclasses to be held on Monday, 11 April 2022, unless they have submitted a paper to the main conference (option 1 above). Students will be invited to present their own work, and will get feedback from faculty and other students.

Students are expected to attend all sessions on Monday 11 April and will only be awarded a certificate of attendance on this basis. Students are also expected to attend the whole conference.

There are 80 places available on a first-come, first served basis. While we envisage that the majority of these will be on a face-to-face basis, we will offer the possibility for remote presentation for the remainder. Once the quota is full, your name will be placed on a waiting list.

Submit your abstract  to 'Doctoral Masterclasses 2022' via the new Paper Submissions Platform.

You do not need to be a member to register on the platform or make a submission. You will be able to submit your abstract immediately upon registering.
