3rd Accounting and Accountability in Emerging Economies* (AAEE) Conference

The 3rd Accounting and Accountability in Emerging Economies* (AAEE) Conference will be held on 3-5 July 2023 at the Highfield Campus, Centre for Research in Accounting, Accountability and Governance (CRAAG) at the Southampton Business School, University of Southampton. The conference is run in association with BAFA's Accounting and Finance in Emerging Economies (AFEE) Special Interest Group and the African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA)

Emerging Scholars Colloquium - ESC: 3 July 2023
Main conference: 4-5 July 2023

The conference will provide a high-profile forum for academics, policy makers, research students and other key stakeholders to discuss issues relating to, and deepening and broadening knowledge of, the role of accounting and accountability in emerging economies; and to build and consolidate a network of active institutions, scholars and policy makers involved in accounting, accountability and global development research.

Paper Submission

Deadline: 28 February 2023

The Conference welcomes research papers using diverse methodological and theoretical approaches which highlight their policy and practical implications. Further, it seeks to engage researchers, policy makers, consultants and development scholars in generating ideas on how accounting and accountability can enhance economic and social development.

The Conference is supported by Emerald publishing house. There will be special issues to be published in the Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies. Presenters of selected papers will be invited to submit their papers in separate Special Issues calls following the Conference.

Research themes of the Conference are as follows (this list is indicative and not exhaustive):

o Global Development and Governance, Taxation, Accounting Information Systems

o Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility, Islamic Accounting, Banking and Finance

o Reporting, Regulations and Corporate Governance, Financial Accounting and Reporting

o Auditing, Fraud and Corruption, Accountability and Governance, Professional Ethics and Standards

o Managerial Controls, Auditing and Internal Audit, International Public Sector Accounting/Auditing Standards

o Micro-Finance and SMEs, Non-profit Accounting, Accounting and Finance in Oil and Gas

o Culture, Gender, Religion, Ethnicity and History, Social and Environmental Accounting

o Management Accounting and Control, Integrated Reporting, International Financial Reporting Standards

o Accounting History, Accounting Education and Developments in the Accounting Profession.

All papers will be reviewed before being accepted to the Conference. Authors will be notified of the organizing committee’s decision by 31 March 2023. We look forward to receiving submissions to the Conference.
